A Hot Afternoon

As its the end of term we have had lots of 'fun' lessons. In other words lesson where we watch a film - some are interesting and others you just wish you are dead! But luckily, I had the genius idea of daydreaming...

I was sitting on a swing with the sun beating down on my face. All you could hear was the peaceful sound of birds singing tunefully. Daisies circled my feet as I gently drifted back and forth back and forth...

'Well wasn't that a fascinating film girls?' Yelled the teacher. Well I guess that's that daydream finished.

Car Journey...

The car is stuffy and the air smelly. We wizz past place after place. Then we come to a holt at the lights.
Sat beside me is a small hill, standing proud, rays of light bounce on the green grass, daisies and daffodils smile in the sun.

My mind wonders into its own world. I rolly polly down the green hill, the wind caught in my hair, the flowers gently flattened by my body weight.
I spin and twirl, free, free as a bird, I fly in the joy and freedom.
Then the car begins to roll forward, slowly. I am pulled out of my world and back into the hot car.

What to do...

They flutter around me, they buzz in my ears, not softly, like honey, but harsh, like the sting.
"You should, you should!", No, I shouldn't.
I don't know what to do, my mind buzzes, my ears sting, what to do, what to do.
In my world, decisions are not made, I never know and the guidance never helps.
"You should, you should!" They buzz.

Wimbledon

As you probably know it was the Wimbledon finals this weekend and I was forced to watch it. My dad was sitting next to me attempting to explain the rules but couldn't finish his sentence without me shouting at him telling him to shut up because it's boring. He eventually gave up, what a better time for a daydream,
I started thinking about all those other poor children forced to watch some people hit a pathetic green ball. I thought home work was a waste of time but Wimbledon should just be made illegal!
'SCORE!' my Dad screamed at the top of his voice, interrupting my daydream

Making...

I make the paper girls, they stand hand in hand, detail after detail, I draw on.I plan the colour of their hair, the shape of their soft, pencil thin lips.
I wonder. I have taken my time, thinking, planning, the shade of their eyes and the size of their feet. But why do people look how they look? Does god sit, planning for those nine months of pregnancy, is the colour of nose and the hair bow for each day planned? Do we live, making decisions or are they already planned out for us and we just don't know? Is it pointless for us to spend hours, thinking, arranging, pondering when all the while, what will be will be anyway?
But, do our decisions change us, the way we are and our futures? Can we change the world without it already having been noted that we will do so?
Who are?
My paper girls, are friends.

I sit...

I sit in class, as I write I drift away.
I lie in the fields, the long grass surrounding me, daisies, daffodils, blue sky, sunshine. The grey, fluffy dog bounds through the grass like a lamb. She comes up, licks my hand, I giggle, its ticklish.
I jump up, and run, free, dog at my heels. I spin and twirl the world quiet and yet alive.
And the the bell wrings, i return back to the drab grey classroom.

Party

The house party screams around me and I sit, daydreaming.I dream of silence, birds singing as I float up on clouds. I dream of the mess and smell drifting away of sweet scent of peace and freedom. The laughs, shouts, cries, and clanking bottles disappear and then... the dream becomes a reality, everyone has left!

Workdreaming

I like reading all the daydreams. I particularly like reading them during the afternoon when I should really be working, which is a bit like daydreaming anyway.

At the orthodontist....

I placed myself on the cool mint chair, the soothing sound as it carefully tilted backwards. What a perfect time for a daydream...

Instead of me being the victim of my teeth being fiddled around with and constantly being told to spend my full two minutes brushing my teeth. I was the one who did all that business! In front of me lay several sophisticate tools. I was free to use them how I liked on this innocent child.

Unfortunately, I was woken by the chair returning me to a sitting position.

Thinking...

At 12:35pm today, I was thinking about what exactly a day-dream is.
Is a day-dream just when you think, wonder and imagine? Or is it different, deeper, more complicated?
Does a day dream consist of imaginary items and unrealistic situations? Or is it simply a thought about the future, a look at what lies ahead?
But whatever it is, can I be daydreaming constantly? - I think constantly, so am I just dreaming?
Maybe I live within a world of dreams, a world that is just within me and maybe I never really get to see the reality .
What is a daydream?

(if you want to tell us your definition please comment below - hope that got YOU thinking.)

My daydream, age 20

During a very boring hour of revision, my mind wandered off to a world where I didn't have to write long boring essays. These essays turned into the shimmering, golden sand of a distant, deserted beach, where the turquoise sea glistened in the bright sun. I lay there, with a high pile of books on one side and a huge chocolate ice cream in my hand.  I ate my ice cream and ran into the ocean, floating in a rubber ring. Suddenly, my phone vibrated and i was rudely interrupted from my sunbathing and realised how much work I had to get on with.

I dreamt at 12:40pm, Monday 18th

The girl in front plaited her hair, the plait smooth and silky wound around her head, it took me back, to Alice in Wonderland, her hair, long and blonde. Alice played with the baby clams, they spoke and squeaked at her, they danced and played. Then, my daydream was shattered into millions of pieces by the noise of a book clattering to the floor.

Walk in the park

I was walking in the park but while my legs were moving I wasn't passing anything.
The trees, the dogs the children playing football, they were all passing me, but I was still.
The world was moving and I was still.
The world was moving and I stayed still, still.

Still. In a moving world.

At 3pm an 11year old girl was daydreaming...

My mind wondered, the chairs and tables began to fly and I was stuck at one. I began to panic, everyone else had already been evacuated and they'd forgotten about me. And then 'tingling' the bell went and I was set a free from the boring lesson.
